In the UK, 17 babies a day are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.
Here in N. Ireland, 4 babies a week are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.
Sands NI supports anyone affected by the death of a baby anywhere in Northern Ireland. We provide bereavement packs to all maternity units. The packs contain information on our support services, practical advice and leaflets about grief and bereavement.
We also provide memory booklets. These have space for a photo of the baby, hand and footprints and other mementoes.
The packs are vital in telling parents that they are not alone; there are other parents who have experienced and survived the pain and confusion that the death of a much-wanted baby can bring. The memory booklets give parents something through which they can remember their babies when they leave hospital.
To fund these packs and to run our support groups, helpline and befriending services, we are reliant on donations. If you'd like to support our vital work, you can donate:
By cheque made payable to Sands NI (Please send it with a completed Gift Aid form).

One bereavement pack costs £5. £5 can make a real difference to peoples' lives. Without your help, we can't provide support to the people who so desperately need it. Without your help, there is no Sands NI.
If you are a UK taxpayer, Sands can claim an additional 28% of your donation from the Government.
This will not cost you anything extra. For every £5.00, we can claim an additional £1.40.
