In the UK, 17 babies a day are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.
Here in N. Ireland, 4 babies a week are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.
The stretch they’ll be covering is 1km of the River Thames near Hampton Court Palace; the ducks are loaded into Molseley Lock, Surrey from noon on race day with the launch at 1.30pm.
Sands can share in the funds raised by you adopting a duck – and you’re not restricted to one duck, you can buy as many as you like! Tell your friends, family and colleagues – the more ducks we sell, the more funds we will raise!

It costs just £2 to adopt a duck, plus a recommended donation of £3 per duck which comes directly to Sands. Every duck entered has the chance to win a fantastic prize and the first duck across the line wins a massive £10,000!!
As well as race day there are virtual online race days with a monthly prize. Once you’ve adopted your duck you’ll automatically be entered into the online duck race as well as the main race itself. The computer will select a duck at random every month and if it’s your duck, you win....simple!! What’s even better is your duck goes back in the draw for every race so you can win again and again!!
Spectators and participants are most welcome to attend the race, with refreshments being served along the course near Hampton Court! It should be a quacking event – the organisers are aiming to break their own World Record of 205,000 ducks!!
The Duck Race works with the River Thames Alliance and the Environmental Agency to ensure that every plastic duck is removed from the Thames on completion of the race and then recycled and reused
