In 2013 in the UK, one in every 137 babies was either stillborn or died in the first 4 weeks of life

Here in N. Ireland, over 3 babies a week are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.

We support all bereaved parents who have lost their babies, before, during or shortly after birth.

Unfortunately we will have to cancel out tonight's 1st December meeting.

In 2013 around 5,700 babies were stillborn or died shortly after birth in the UK alone. But awareness of the issues surrounding babies’ deaths is not widespread.

We always have parents, family and friends taking part in the various running/walking distances of the Belfast Marathon raising money in memory of their own or a family member or friend’s baby.

We yet again this month had donations from various fundraising events, individuals and companies.

We are delighted to announce dates for two more Gifts Of Remembrance bereavement photography training days on Wednesday 27th & Thursday 28th May 2015 at Dunadry Hotel, Antrim.

We had a conference call meeting to plan ahead for Improving Bereavement Care training in NI for 2016.

Claire & Sara from Antrim Sands were invited to meet some of the staff at Antrim hospital after meeting Elizabeth Osbourne at the Snowdrop Walk.

The Bereavement Team at Antrim hospital organise this special event, now in it's 8th year it was held on Sunday 15th February

We held a meeting of Enniskillen Sands on 11th February in the Enniskillen Hotel.

Our Co-ordinator attended a meeting of the In Utero Transfer Task & Finish Group (IUT Group) at the Royal Hospital Belfast on 11th February

We were invited to Dundonald Methodist Church Senior Citizens Group on 3rd Feb, to talk about the work of SandsNI.

Daisy Hill Remembrance Service is being held on November 21st in Newry Town Hall at 3pm.

The Royal Hospital will hold its Annual Memorial Service.

The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety has commissioned the Patient and Client Council to undertake a pre-consultation as part of the Maternity Services Review.  SandsNI has been invited to take part.

The SANDS group in Enniskillen is organising a fundraising 10Km run on the 21st June 2008.

Bonmarche stores throughout Northern Ireland are hosting a fundraising event to support Sands NI, the Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Charity, who offer support to anyone affected by the death of a baby.


All Bonmarche stores & employees will be selling balloons at £1 each, which they will launch from the 18 stores across the province on Friday 8th February. The owners of the 18 balloons found furthest away from the starting point will win a cash prize.


BonMarche representative, Michelle Allen said "We will be encouraging all our employees & customers to take part in this event, which we hope will contribute significantly to Sands NI's much needed funds."
