In 2013 in the UK, one in every 137 babies was either stillborn or died in the first 4 weeks of life

Here in N. Ireland, over 3 babies a week are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.

We support all bereaved parents who have lost their babies, before, during or shortly after birth.

Improving Bereavement Care Training - planning meeting

We had a conference call meeting to plan ahead for Improving Bereavement Care training in NI for 2016.
Last year Sands appointed Sophia Cross as the NI IBC Trainer and we want to make the most of having an IBC trainer based in NI. Sophia is very well known to us as she was a Befriender at Belfast Sands for several years and has great experience having delivered several of the old Guidelines Training days. We are planning to introduce a programme of 4 regular IBC training days, one each quarter during 2016 and, if it proves successful, we plan to repeat the programme of 4 IBC training days each year, that way, health professionals can plan ahead to include the training dates in their diary. The new training is fully accredited by the RCM.
