In the UK, 17 babies a day are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.
Here in N. Ireland, 4 babies a week are stillborn or die in the first 4 weeks of life.
If you have been affected by stillbirth or death of a baby in the early weeks of life and would like to talk to someone about your experience, please ring our Helpline. You may be a parent, family member, health or social care professional supporting bereaved parents. Your baby may have died recently or many years ago.
The Sands N.Ireland Helpline number is a mobile phone which is shared on a rota basis between the Sands Befrienders throughout N.Ireland. All our befrienders are volunteers, usually parents who have directly been affected by the loss of a baby at or around the time of birth.
If your call cannot be answered, please leave a message with your name and number and we will call you back as soon as possible.
Alternatively you can call the UK Sands helpline - 020 7436 5881. It operates from 9.30am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday. Outside these hours there is an answer message service and someone will call you back.
